New Video Piece

I shot this promo piece for our upcoming Easter musical. I used my Canon XH A1 and the Redrock Micro with Nikon Lenses. I also used a simple 3 piece light kit with 2 1K's and a 650w.

Let me know what you think!!

Short Takes is out!

Everything went smoothly with the release.  I hope we get feedback and topics to do!!  I would love to be able to afford the bandwidth to host our own HD feed, but Vimeo will work for now!!

Compression???

I have been struggling to find the right mix in Apple's Compressor.  We record everything in HDV and are trying to spit out a HD option for our podcast.  I have been looking around the web and have found some sites using a 960x540 and calling it HD.  It's not really HD... but it looks good enough for me!
We will see how it goes.

$1300 or $100

So Michael and Matthew constructed a teleprompter for our new short takes feature at ChurchyMedia.  I can't build anything but they are like Bob Vila.  So they got super excited and I said run with it boys!  After a trip to the hardware store we had the supplies we needed.  With the 2 way mirror glass cut to size and the wood and supplies, the cost was just under $100.00!!  So while I was playing Guitar Hero on the Wii they went to town.  It turned out great and we will be using it this weekend.

New Addition for ChurchyMedia

Since it is the Age Of Video (and that is my passion) it makes sense to add video to ChurchyMedia. We have converted our dedicated Home Theater room as the shoot location.

It's a simple setup with one softbox, a table, black backdrop, and a reflector.  We are going to call the features "short takes" 2 minute or less takes on new media topics.  It should be fun!  We are recording several back to back this Fri. and we are building a do it yourself teleprompter.  (You have no idea how many takes I need just to get through a 2 min. piece).  I'll keep you posted on the D-I-Y project. Pics to come

So What Did He Say

So the experience was great! Here was my feedback for my first video....

He could tell I have shooting experience, my shots were good. I needed to shove the camera in closer. I needed to take the tragedy part of the story and make the piece about that. He couldnt connect with the Ken he was not interesting enough telling his own story I needed to tell the story. Otherwise it was Okay!!

Travel Channel Academy Video Two

So here is my final piece or the class.  We will have the screening at 2:00 today.

This has been an amazing adventure for me.  The creative process I have learned have opened my eyes to endless possibilities at home.  I have two shoots coming up in the next few weeks and I will be able to incorporate all that I have soaked up over these past our days.

Thank You Kim.  I Love You.

I TOUCHED IT!!

So I went over to Tyson's Corner to hang out tonight before the class starts to check out the Apple Store. You guessed it The MacBook Air is in and I held it. It is stunning to see in person. It feels pretty sturdy. I am really rough on computers so I wanted to check out the build quality.
It's not for me though, too pricey, not powerful enough and still too big (long live the 12'' PowerBook)

On the Road

Here is part one of the trip up!!

A Media Life

So I bit the bullet and started a personal blog.  I know none of you are shocked!!  There is so much stuff I end up putting on ChurhcyMedia that is irrelevant so naturally a new blog!

If you know me than you know my passion VIDEO!!  I love to tell stories and it's easy because everyone has one!!  I have my own company that consists of... well me.  Hey I'm small but legit!  I focus most of my energy in equipping churches to use New Media to tell Gods Story!

This week I am off on an adventure to The Travel Channel Academy.  The first several posts will be about my trip.

So here we go!!
